30 July 2026 - WG3 Training School: dates confirmed, 30 September – 2 October in Madrid

The WG3 Training School will be held on Wednesday 30 September to Friday 2 October 2026 at the Spanish National Research Council CSIC Campus Serrano in Madrid.

26 July 2026 - WG3 Training School: pre-registration closed

Pre-registration for the WG3 Training School in Madrid closed on 25 July 2026, 01:00 CEST. Thank you to everyone who pre-registered: your availability is what decides both the date and the length of the meeting.

What happens next. We are now fixing the final date and format from the responses. As soon as they are set we will announce them here and on the Training page, and registration will open. Everyone who marked the chosen date as Yes or If need be moves from pre-registered to registered, subject to capacity and in priority order.

16 July 2026 - WG3 Training School in Madrid: pre-registration open

Working Group 3 (Automated Preprocessing Pipelines) will hold its first Training School: a 2–3 day, in-person working meeting. It will be held at the CSIC Campus Serrano in Madrid in autumn 2026. Participants will continue building WG3’s inventory of preprocessing tools and workflows (Task Force 1), and revise the status of the systematic review of preprocessing and provenance reporting (Task Force 2), closing with a hands-on hackathon session.

Travel and subsistence are covered for eligible participants (COST daily allowance plus travel up to €1,500). Around 20–25 places; pre-registration is mandatory.

The date and length are not yet fixed. We had set up a pre-registration form to collect the necessary information about you and your availability on five different date options. The slot that maximizes attendance will be selected based on the pre-registration. Pre-registration closed on 25 July 2026, 01:00 CEST and the form no longer accepts responses.

6 July 2026 - INDoS workgroup on “Ethics, practices, and regulations” published a comment on EDPB Guidelines on processing of personal data for scientific research purposes

With the lead of INDoS WG4 members Mireille M Sant, Claude J Bajada, Cyril Pernet, and Jochem Rieger we have published a commentary on the European Data Protection Boards draft for the long awaited guidelines 1/2026 on processing of personal data for scientific research purposes. Our commentary has been published here and was signed by 109 co-signatories from 26 countries from within and oustside the INDoS network. In general we appreciate that the EDPB formulates recommendation specific for the exemptions for scientific research in GDPR. However, we also fear that unclear definitions and unnecessary multiplication of checks might lead to procedures and requiremnts that exceed the capacity and resources of research instiutions. Importantly, we suggest to limit the scope of the recommendations to GDPR specific regulations and to remove recommendations that cover external areas covered typically by IRBs (e.g. safeguards) or interfere with freedom of research guaranteed by Article 13 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the constitutions of most European countries.

5 July 2026 - Second call for STSM grant applications

We have opened second call to apply for Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) grants. The restriction on the host institution has been removed in this call and any institution relevant to INDoS activities is eligible now. See the grants page for details on how to apply.

4 July 2026 - Federated Journal Club

WG3 (Automated Preprocessing Pipelines) is launching a Federated Journal Club: a trainee-oriented activity to collaboratively read and critically annotate the neuroimaging-preprocessing literature across nine modalities, as part of TF2’s efforts.

15 June 2026 - INDoS Annnual Meeting (aligned with OHBM)

On Monday 15 June we will have our annual meeting at Novotel, located at Avenue Jean Gabriel Domergue, Bordeaux, France. This is a hybrid meeting, INDoS members are also able to attend online. The online link will be sent via the email list. The program for the day is as follows:

12-13 June 2026 - BrainHack TrainTrack sessions at OHBM

As part of the INDoS and EEG101 collaboration (two COST Actions), we are hosting two hands-on TrainTrack sessions at the OHBM BrainHack for anyone interested in BIDS workflows, EEG/MEG quality control, and open neuroimaging tools.

12 June, 13:30–15:00 — BIDS Manager. Learn how to simplify raw-to-BIDS conversion, metadata handling, and dataset curation across MRI, MEG, EEG, and physiological recordings using a software tool that supports conversion, metadata editing, validation, and review. See the BIDS Manager documentation.

13 June, 09:00–10:30 — MEEGqc. Explore a BIDS-aligned software tool for standardized and reproducible quality assessment and quality control of MEG and EEG data. See the MEEGqc documentation.

If you would like to get practical experience during the sessions, please install the software in advance by following the installation instructions in the documentation.

2 March 2026 - WG3 kick-off meeting

Working group 3 on Automated Preprocessing Pipelines will have its online kick-off meeting on Tuesday 17 March, at 14:00-15:00 CET. The zoom link for the meeting was posted on the WG3 mailing list.

23 February 2026 - WG1 and WG4 kick-off meetings

Working group 1 on Quality Assessment and Quality Control will have its first online kick-off meeting on Tuesday 3 March, at 14:00-15:00 CET.

Working group 4 on Ethics, Practices, and Regulations will have its first online kick-off meeting on Wednesday, 4 March at 14:00-15:00 (CET).

We hope that many of you will join. The locations for both meetings have been announced through the respective mailing lists. If you signed up and have been accepted for one of the working groups, you should automatically have been added to the corresponding mailing lists and received the announcement. 6 February 2026 - new logo

We have a new logo, please see the style guide for further details.

30 September 2025 - MC1 meeting

The first management committee (MC) meeting was hosted on 30 September 2025 at the COST headquarters in Brussels and attended by 21 members, representing 17 countries. The COST action was explained to all members by Wioleta Walentowska (Science Officer) and Flavya Ricci (Administrative Officer), including the networking tools and financial support. We discussed the initial actions to be undertaken by the working groups. Furthermore, the action chair, vice chair and others of the core team were selected and voted into position, and the budget for the first year was agreed upon.

20 May 2025 - INDoS approved

We are happy that our proposal Improving Neuroimaging Data for Sharing (INDoS) was approved by the COST Committee of Senior Officials.
